Family Photo Session at the Blue Whale in Catoosa Oklahoma

Greetings feathered friends!

We recently had a fantastic session with the Brown family! Ryan Brown is a 2nd Class Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy & his wife, Kierra, was the winner of our Military Spouse Appreciation Contest held back in May on our Facebook page. We're so happy to meet this incredible family & want to say "thank you" for your service!

The Brown’s chose the historic Blue Whale in Catoosa, Oklahoma for their family session.

“We loved the location! Given that we are a military family and Oklahoma is our HOME, we may not be here forever. To be able to have our family portraits done at such an iconic place here in Oklahoma makes me feel like I can take that part of home with us no matter where we end up.” Oh, & did we mention, Kierra’s favorite color is blue? What a perfect spot!

For our shoot, the Brown’s dressed 2-year old daughter Joleigh in an adorable dress from the Children’s Place, which resembled a Navy outfit & the rest of the group planned their outfits around Joleigh’s. Full Feather never shows up to a shoot without some kind of props & this time we busted out some of our fairy sticks so the girls could pretend they were fishing off of the old whale.  And yes, one of the sticks ended up in the water but Kierra quickly rescued it!

It was truly an amazing photo shoot & we could not have asked for more perfect weather for an evening in July. If any of you are considering a family session or are prepping for an upcoming session, here are some great tips from Mommy Kierra:

“Don’t expect everything to go perfectly. Kids will be kids, and no matter how well behaved they are, they aren’t going to want to do exactly what you imagine for family portraits. One way or another things will go differently than planned, so always “plan” for the unexpected.”  Solid advice!

Five-year-old Amerie, aka “Am,” was a great helper during the session.  She was full of positive energy & kept us on our toes. We may have had her fooled for a moment though when we told her we heard she loves Tinkerbell. “How did you know that!?! Do you know everything?” Yes, yes we do. Thanks, Kierra, for providing us with some secrets beforehand to help keep your girls attention!  ;)

We’d like to take this opportunity to share some kind words from Kierra:

“I wasn’t worried about the session. I believed in my photographer and the work that she does. I have never had a photo shoot outside of a department store studio, so I was curious as to how the “customer service” was going to go. It was much more personal and easy going. Tara was so much more laid back than any “studio” employee.  Thank you!”

Okay, on to pictures of the Brown family!
